ABOUT BERGAMO

Bergamo is a city in Lombardy north-east of Milan. The oldest area, called Città Alta and characterised by its paved streets, is home to the city’s cathedral; it is surrounded by Venetian walls and is accessible by funicular railway. It is also home to the Romanesque basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and the imposing Colleoni Chapel, with 18th-century frescoes by Tiepolo.
